About M.Design Fashion Design

The Master’s programme in Fashion Design is conceptualized to prepare innovative professionals possessing a creative vision and aesthetic sensibilities with strategic, practical, and critical skills to take on responsible roles in the fashion industry.

The graduates will develop a distinctive edge and identity through diverse projects and an intra-disciplinary pedagogy with a focus on tactility, form, and image through comprehensive inputs and specialization in textiles, bespoke fashion, and fashion styling. The impetus is to prepare future leaders who are adaptive, digitally savvy, effective communicators, responsive, dynamic, and have a research-oriented attitude and critical mindset to create a niche for themselves in the multi-faceted fashion industry.

The course specifically focuses on techniques and technologies in fashion design. The graduates develop critical, innovative, technical, and managerial skills concerning design sensibilities, values, and socio-cultural systems.

Fashion students at UID have a distinctive eco-system of learning in a culturally progressive city with a diverse heritage and industry and a multi-disciplinary university having labs equipped with tools and techniques ranging from traditional craft-based practice to the latest digital technologies

The ethos of all courses is driven with research-oriented, iterative, inquisitive and eclectic approach with overarching critical contextualization of culture, society, sustainability, ethics, trends, crafts, technology, market and business. The pedagogy engages students in an in-depth industry experience, which includes an industry internship followed by a Graduation project. The emphasis is on experiential learning with hands-on experience in professional practices.
