What is a Master of Information Technology (Advanced)?

  • A Master of Information Technology will build on your current knowledge to help you create new opportunities and explore different career paths across a range of IT topics.
  • Designed to provide advanced capability using existing and emerging technologies, this course will redefine your IT career. Choose electives that align with your goals in the field of IT, including big data and analytics, user experience design, management of people and teams, cybersecurity and deeper exploration of technical topics like artificial intelligence. This program focuses on the infrastructure aspect of IT, specifically on designing and implementing the technical solutions needed by businesses such as cloud computing.
  • Structured to align with the guidelines of the Australian Computer Society (ACS), this course focuses on developing advanced information technology skills preparing ICT professionals to better exploit Industry 4.0 technologies. Your studies will review current information technologies and system trends, investigate security issues in an enterprise networking context, explore new application and database development approaches, and understand emerging technologies. You’ll also learn how to deal with risk, interdependent integrations, software updates and software development management.
  • This course has been co-developed with industry-leading ICT practitioners and academics, and is structured to align with the guidelines of the Australian Computer Society.

  • Apply cognitive and technical skills innovatively and ethically to research, critique, examine and solve complex real-life problems.
  • Critically analyse problems and communicate solutions to a diverse range of audiences.

  • Demonstrate sound judgement, non-partisanship and accountability in leadership roles for effective planning, management, execution and communication of IT projects.
  • Integrate IT concepts and industry best practices to solve commercial problems.
  • Manage complicated projects involving industry standard tools and techniques.
  • Use knowledge of IT principles and techniques to appraise and recommend contemporary industry developments and emerging technologies.
  • Undertake 312 hours of experience by completing an internship or working on a live brief

  • This course comprises of 10 core subjects and three elective subjects including one 20 credit point subject and one 30 credit point subject, each subject requiring 10 hours of study per week; three hours facilitated and seven self-directed. Assessments may include activity-based assignments or online quizzes. There are no formal exams.
