Mechanical Engineering Course Offered by SAOGA Oil & Gas Academy
Undergraduate studies:
The undergraduate programme educates and trains engineers for a professional career, enabling them to think independently and to approach problems in a logical and confident manner. Skills are developed through group or team work and practical sessions that emphasise design.
Great importance is placed on laboratory work in support of lecture material, and sophisticated pieces of apparatus are available to students. Design and manufacturing workshops are constantly adapting to new processes and techniques and laboratories have state-of-the-art computing facilities and equipment.
Postgraduate studies and research:
Areas for postgraduate study and research include low-cost automation and robotics, structural impact, industrial engineering, systems engineering, project management, managing for performance improvement, non-destructive testing and evaluation, heat transfer and refrigeration, air and road vehicle dynamics, internal combustion engines, fatigue and fracture mechanics, residual stress, productivity and quality management, operations management, gas dynamics and fluid dynamics.
MOGA is an initiative of South African Oil & Gas Alliance (SAOGA), which serves the Interests of Industry and Members in the Upstream and Midstream Oil and Gas Sectors in Africa.
SAOGA is dedicated to promoting the upstream and midstream sectors of the oil and gas value chain, primarily in South Africa and regionally in Southern Africa.
The organisation operates as a partnership between the public and private sectors, receiving public funding to carry out a range of industry development activities and working to promote the interests of members. It is overseen by an independent volunteer Board of Directors from industry and a number of other key stakeholders.
The Mechanical Engineering programme comprises the design and development of machinery, ranging from simple mechanisms to more complex machines as well as the processes involved in operating and maintaining them.
Mechanical Engineering (N1 - N3) A Mechanical Engineer is involved with the design, development, production, marketing, installation, maintenance and general research of machinery and mechanical equipment in almost every type of industry and technology.
This course is an introduction to learning and applying the principles required to solve engineering problems. Concepts will be applied in this course from previous courses you have taken in basic math and physics.
The Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering programme offered at IIE MSA is accredited by the CHE/HEQC and endorsed by the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).
ND Mechanical Engineering are offered by Amitek Business College for all skill levels. We believe that every student has the ability to realize their potential and purpose through proper career guidance and supervision.
