Self-compassion provides emotional strength and resilience, allowing us to admit our shortcomings, motivate ourselves with kindness
The Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) Program developed by Kristin Neff and Christopher Germer, is an experiential journey "an adventure in self-discovery and self-kindness. It offers periods of instruction, practice (meditations, exercises, and written reflections) and group sharing.
Self-compassion provides emotional strength and resilience, allowing us to admit our shortcomings, motivate ourselves with kindness, forgive ourselves when needed, and wholeheartedly relate to others. As we learn to more fully accept ourselves as we are, we deepen into our own authenticity.
Self-compassion can be learned by anyone. It is a courageous attitude that stands up to harm through self-criticism or self-isolation. Self-compassion is strongly associated with emotional well-being, healthy life habits, satisfying personal relationships, and decreasing anxiety, depression and stress.
In the MSC Program You Will Learn:
Since 1988, meditation has been a transformative practice for me, allowing me to connect deeply with myself, with others and with life. It has supported me to develop presence in my moment-to-moment experience so that I am more fully here for my actual life. Meditation supports me to move beyond my own limited beliefs and mental patterns, enabling me to live more fully with authenticity and freedom.I hold a Social Work Certificate, have trained in group facilitation through Life Skills Coach Training, and have completed the three-year training in Somatic Experiencing (SE©).Since 2003, I have been creating and guiding classes called Healing Through Meditation. They are for anyone who wishes to learn or deepen their practice of Mindfulness and Lovingkindness.
In these classes, I create an atmosphere of safety, support and nurturing that supports participants to simply relax, be themselves and be open to exploring their own inner experience. Together, we learn from each other and begin to accept ourselves more fully as we are.My personal practice has recently moved towards self-compassion, increasingly meeting myself with kindness, understanding and love. Having experienced the transformative power of self-compassion, I felt naturally drawn to Kristin Neff and Christopher Germer’s Mindful Self-Compassion Program formal teacher training and am now delighted to be able to offer this life-changing program here in Regina.
