The manufacturing industry in Malaysia is governed by the Industrial Co -ordination Act 1975. The Industrial Co-ordination Act 1975 imposes several requirements on companies that are, or intend to be, involved in the manufacturing industry.

The compliance requirements are imposed to facilitate proper regulation of the manufacturing industry by relevant authorities. It also ensures that companies manufacture products that are not at odds with national economic and social objectives.

It further encourages an orderly development of the manufacturing industry and minimizes manufacturing activities and practices that would be potentially harmful to society, such as hazardous waste management, pollution and other environmental concerns.

Objectives:

  • Ensure that the factory operates within the legal framework, minimizing the risk of legal disputes, penalties, fines, and other consequences associated with non-compliance.
  • Promote a safe and healthy working environment for employees by complying with occupational safety and health regulations. This includes providing proper training, maintaining safe work conditions, and minimizing workplace hazards.
  • Foster a culture of legal and ethical conduct within the organization. Understanding legal requirements helps employees and management make informed decisions that align with legal standards and ethical principles
