The Australian Well Control Centre’s Operate breathing apparatus (MSMWHS216) “BA” Program is unique in its design and delivery being led by Experienced Industry Professionals who have worked with BA Units in highly hazardous and life threatening environments such as asphyxiate atmospheres in Fire Fighting and Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) working conditions.

AWCC brings  it’s A-Game again in the delivery of the Operate Breathing Apparatus  Program, the course itself has been designed by Military and Fire Brigade Professionals making it a High Quality one of a kind training experience that is exclusive to AWCC.

Such is the quality of this training, it’s designed to install the participant with the confidence and skills to get themselves out of a bind when required, not into one!

 

Performance Skills Learnt:

  • Demonstrate the Pre-donning tests of Breathing Apparatus
  • Correctly don and operate breathing apparatus
  • Be able to identify hazards and apply control measures according to procedures
  • Demonstrate communication while using breathing apparatus
  • Calculate and determine the available working time from a breathing apparatus set gauge readings
  • Demonstrate the correct close down procedure, remove and clean breathing apparatus
  • Report faults and/or damage to breathing apparatus.

 

Upon completion of the program the candidate will be able to demonstrate knowledge of the following when Operating a Breathing Apparatus:

  • Understand the effects of irrespirable atmospheres on the body and identify the need for protective equipment
  • Explain the characteristics, component parts and operation of compressed air breathing apparatus
  • Understand the safety requirements of operational testing, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safe work practices when wearing breathing apparatus
  • Demonstrate the use of procedures, personal lines and tallies when using BA sets
  • Demonstrate and Document pre-use tests and checks
  • Demonstrate breathing apparatus control
  • Identify entrapment procedures in the event of emergency
  • Demonstrate and Document Communications while wearing breathing apparatus.
