Formal Entry Requirements

To undertake the Oral Health Education Certificate qualification you must:

  • a) be registered with the General Dental Council

  • b) have the support of your employing dentist to act as supervisor and validate the workplace activities for the Record of Experience.

What Does The Course Invole?

The syllabus for the Certificate in Oral Health Education reflects the theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary for dental nurses to provide health education in a relevant dental environment.

You will be covering Society and Oral Health, Oral Diseases and Prevention, Dental Structures, Physiology and Anatomy, among other topics.

Your Record of Experience assesses the application of that knowledge in practical situations and the skills required. The record has three parts to be completed, including Log Sheets, Expanded Case Studies and Display work.

A total of 30 hours of theory may be delivered in college or at facilities in the local area.

Assessment for the Oral Health Education Certificate is by a written and oral examination, along with the Record of Experience.
