This course provides training to mariners seeking to meet USCG or IMO requirements for a Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities (PSSR) course. Any student who successfully completes the PSSR course will satisfy the Personal Safety & Social Responsibilities training requirements of Section A-VI/1 and Table A-VI/1-4 of the Seafarers’ Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping (STCW) Code, as Amended in 2010 and 46 CFR 11.202(b)(4).

A trainee successfully completing this course will have knowledge of shipboard contingency plans for response to emergencies; precautions to prevent pollution of the marine environment; safe working practices; the ability to understand orders and be understood in relation to shipboard duties; and how to comply with emergency procedures.
The trainee will also acquire knowledge which in some instances will enable him/her to identify and correct defects and thereby prevent emergencies.
