Dr. Lorna Wanzel grew up in England. She now lives in Halifax Nova Scotia, where she maintains a very successful private piano teaching studio. She has over 40 years of experience teaching piano skills, rudiments, history of music, harmony, counterpoint, analysis, composition and piano pedagogy to students of all ages.
She is also an experienced examiner, clinician, adjudicator and researcher.
Dr. Wanzel is a former President of the Canadian Federation of Music Teachers’ Associations and of the Nova Scotia Registered Music Teachers’ Association.
She started the NSRMTA Research Group, the first of its kind in the world and has presented research papers on various topics, including motivation and retention of students in the private music studio.
She has presented at music education conferences in Australia, Portugal, Italy, Latvia, China., Greece, UK, USA and Canada. She is a recipient of the CFMTA Distinguished Teachers Award and has been made a Life Member of the NSRMTA.
Piano Lessons are offered by The Frederic Chopin Music School for all ages and skill levels. The Frederic Chopin Music School has a strong track record of high performance. Each year, our students gain experience and collect awards at Festivals.

Our private piano lessons take place in one of our music rooms or you can learn from the comfort of your own home as we come to your location.
Our team of outstanding pianists and piano teachers offers qualified and individual piano lessons for children, teenagers, and adults. Our main goal is to help our students enjoy learning music. Our teachers try to make learning piano fun and inspiring.
Piano lessons start from age 5 and up. If you’re interested in having your little one under the age of 5 learn to play piano, we suggest signing them up for our preschool music group.
