Our instructors are qualified, highly experienced, knowledgeable and enthusiastic Tradespersons, so students can take advantage of all the tips of the trade, personal experiences and advice they offer.
This short course is intensive, but the atmosphere is relaxed and enjoyable which creates a good learning environment. If you have a particular project in mind, or some building plans you wish to gain advice on, our instructors will be more than happy to discuss these with you.
Our Plumbing Course covers the basics of household plumbing from fitting a tap washer through to achieving a good understanding of the hot and cold water supply systems, and a central heating system via theory and practical hands-on experience.
You will gain practical experience on how to use compression fittings, as well as the installation of plastic waste systems using push fit and compression connection methods.
You will learn the correct use of alternative plumbing methods such as speed/push fit plumbing systems and associated connectors and pipe work. You will gain further practical experience in the planning and installation of water supplies and waste systems within our purpose built bathroom and kitchen environments.
This plumbing course should give you the confidence, skills and knowledge to complete your own DIY projects or set you on the first rung of the ladder to a lucrative plumbing career.
The Builder Training Centre opened in 2003 to address the shortage of Construction Courses for those in the building trade and for those trying to get into it, and anyone looking for Practical DIY Courses for beginners.
The Centre opened offering Short Intensive Practical Hands-on Courses, then in 2005, expanded the Electrical Centre with the introduction of Electrical Qualifications by becoming an EAL Approved Centre (approval number L1944EW).
In 2007 we expanded the department again by offering City & Guilds Electrical Qualifications (approval number 007253). All our Electrical Courses are run from our second centre (a very short walk away) in Stafford Road. In 2014, we also became a preferred supplier for the MOD (approved provider no 4107).
CCTS provides quality training courses and assessments within the building services & general Construction sector for operatives within the construction, gas, oil, electric, plumbing, refrigeration, renewable energy industries and online training for Health & Safety, Business Skills & Social Care.
This course covers the Water Byelaws (Scotland). It meets the requirement of WRAS (The Water Regulations Advisory Scheme) of which the majority of UK water companies are members.
This course combines Plumbing theory and practice at Level 1. Subjects taught and assessed include: hot and cold water, basic plumbing principles and processes and effective working relationships.
This course includes underpinning knowledge, practical skills and experience for learners aspiring to secure a Modern Apprenticeship Plumbing and Heating.
The Level 1 Award is a City & Guilds qualification which focuses on the basic practical principles for the absolute novice to build confidence and underpinning knowledge.
