Instructors at the Pilot Centre are experienced, keen and dedicated to passing on their skills and knowledge to everyone who is interested in flying, aiming to make the learning as enjoyable as possible. You will usually fly with one of our full time flying instructors, and occasionally perhaps with one of our part time instructors who are mostly airline pilots.
You should soon feel at home with other flying enthusiasts who help to create the friendly, club atmosphere which is the hallmark of The Pilot Centre.
There are 2 Private Pilot Licences available in the UK, the EASA PPL necessary if you are considering a career as a pilot, and the LAPL. The LAPL is a European licence, that is not accepted outside Europe nor is it possible to add ratings to it, but can be upgraded to a PPL later.
We specialise in quality training for obtaining your Private Pilots Licence and its ratings. Our fleet of tidy aircraft are available for hire at reasonable prices. Members come from varied backgrounds and are of all experience levels.
The Private Pilot License is a combination of practical flight training and theoretical knowledge. Under the guidance and supervision of our experienced instructors we will take you through the minimum 45 flying hours set by the Civil Aviation Authority.
The PPL course offers you the training and experience you need to obtain an extendable licence. At Leicestershire Aero Club, all of our training is approved by the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
Obtaining a PPL(H) is no longer reserved for the rich and famous, at Flying Pig we offer a range of training programmes to suit your budget and ultimate goal which is of course to learn to FLY!
The PPL is an internationally recognised licence. Following successful completion of a course of training at Cubair and after application to the CAA you would be issued with a PPL with privileges to fly a single engine piston aeroplane (land) as pilot in command.
Our ‘FlightPad’ Sessions are designed for enthusiasts and career developers who want a full insight into operating a modern jet airliner. With extra time to tailor your experience, you can really get to know the aircraft.
