About Test

The International English Language Testing System (Pearson Test of English) is the most popular English language test. It measures the language proficiency of people who want to study or work in locations where English is used to communicate. Some major countries that accept Pearson Test of English are the UK, USA, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia. The test assesses one’s listening, reading, writing, and speaking abilities in less than three hours. There are two types of Pearson Test of English: Academic and General Training. Listening and Speaking are the same for both tests, but the subject matter of the Reading and Writing sections differs depending on which test you take. The Listening, Reading and Writing sections of all Pearson Test of English tests are completed on the same day, with no breaks between them. The total test time is 2 hours and 45 minutes.

General Facts

Date and Frequency

Pearson Test of English test dates are offered upto 4 times in a month making a total of 48 fixed test dates in one calendar year. The availability of Pearson Test of English dates in India may differ for the Academic and General Training module.

Center and Admit Card

The Pearson Test of English Exam is offered across more than 50 test city locations in India. There is no admit card provided for Pearson Test of English.

Result

Pearson Test of English Exam results are released 13 calendar days after the test for the paper based and 5-7 calendar days for computer based test. The candidate will receive only ONE original Test Report Form (TRF).

Score Reporting

A candidate may request up to 5 additional TRFs to be sent to Receiving Institutions (universities, professional bodies, etc) within 1 month of taking the Pearson Test of English test. TRFs sent by courier will be sent through DHL and students will be charged accordingly. If the Receiving Institution accepts electronic submission of scores then that can be arranged through the IDP Pearson Test of English office at no charge.

Listening

You will listen to four recordings of native English speakers and then write your answers to a series of questions. Assessors will be looking for evidence of your ability to understand the main ideas and detailed factual information, the opinions and attitudes of speakers, the purpose of an utterance and evidence of your ability to follow the development of ideas.

Reading

•  40 Questions 30 Minutes 0-9 Score

Speaking

You can either register online and pay the test fee by Credit Card, or register by Courier and pay test fee by Demand Draft or ICICI deposit/Allahabad deposit slip or register in Person at IDP branch or Input Node
