What is PTE? 

The PTE Academic exam is a computer-based English language test authorized by universities and colleges worldwide. The complete form of PTE ( Pearson Test of English ) and PTE Academic is an English language test aimed at non-native English speakers wanting to study abroad. Students have to take the PTE exam to prove their English language proficiency. It tests Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking. 

The questions in this test are designed to check two skills in one, such as listening and reading or reading and speaking. The whole test is performed in one session for three hours. It’s an online exam that takes place in a safe environment.

The PTE Academic Examination is entirely computer-based and free from any human interference. It eliminates any form of discrimination arising from cultural or personality differences. PTE Format

• Speaking & Writing

This section tests candidates’ spoken English and English writing skills in academic environments. The candidates must use correct spelling and grammar while writing their response to the given Questions. The speaking and writing part of the PTE academic test is divided into 6 small portions, as mentioned in the above table. The candidates are given 54 to 67 minutes of time to finish the speaking and writing module.

• Reading

This section analyzes the reading skills of the test taker with a set of 5 small segments. The reading segments of the PTE test are 29 to 30 minutes long and consider the candidates’ understanding of written information in the English language. The candidates should read the Questions carefully and Answer accordingly.

• Listening

Listening is the last module of the PTE test, and it’s divided into multi-micro parts. The Listening segment tests the candidate’s ability to understand spoken English. The Questions included in this section are based on audio or video clips that played just once for the candidates taking the test. 

So they need to listen to clips very carefully and make notes as well. The video and audio clips are generally short in the timing of 1 minute to 1.5 minutes, and the candidates get 10 minutes to write their response between 50 to 70 words only. The listening section of the PTE Academic is stretched over 30 to 43 minutes of duration.
