The PTE exam is a test of one's proficiency in English. It is an international standardized test of English language proficiency. The test is conducted by the British educational publisher Pearson PLC. The PTE exam has 3 sections- listening, reading, and writing & speaking. The test is of 3 hours duration with 10 minutes break and is computer-based. The test taker is required to appear for all four sections on a single day. Who can take the PTE Exam?
Students must be 16 years old in order to appear for PTE Academic test. Candidates below 18 years of age will need to get a parental consent form signed by their parents or guardian. There is no specific academic qualification required in order to take the PTE Academic test. There are no eligibility conditions for PTE General candidates.
 

PTE Exam Format

The PTE Academic exam course is divided into 3 sections. Each section has different question types and time limits.

Speaking and Writing

The Speaking and Writing section of the IELTS lasts anywhere between 54 and 67 minutes, and features seven different question types The questions in the Speaking and Writing section will cover a range of topics, and you will be expected to discuss your opinions or provide information on a given topic. You may also be asked to describe a process or describe a situation.

Reading Section

In the PTE reading section, you will have 20-30 minutes to answer 5 different question types. These question types include Multiple-Choice, Fill in the Blanks, Re-Order Paragraphs, Reading Comprehension, and Summarize Written Text.

Listening Section

The listening section of the PTE exam can last anywhere from 30 to 43 minutes, and it features 8 different question types. You'll be asked to listen to a variety of audio clips, such as lectures, conversations, and news reports. For each clip, you'll need to answer a series of questions. Some of the questions will require you to provide a word or phrase that you heard in the clip.
