The minimum entry requirement for this qualification is a NQF Level 1 qualification or equivalent.
Course Assessment:
This qualification is made up of the following compulsory Knowledge and Practical Skill Modules and Work Experience Modules. Candidates prepare a Portfolio of Evidence during class and demonstrate that they can perform the various roles of Home-Based Care Assistants. A Statement of results will be issued which allows a learner to write the EISA.
Learners will write the EISA is an External National Exam that is meant to ensure a uniform standard for the qualification.

This particular skills programme is developed for caregivers to provide a basic understanding to provide fundamental nursing care for a frail person on a continuous basis and under the direct or indirect supervision of a qualified health worker.
Caregivers are not intended to replace medical professionals or family members. Certain medical tasks such as IV administration cannot be done by a Caregiver and must be done by a family member or qualified medical professional.
SARCS provides Home Based Care training to Caregivers, Community, Nurse Aids, Family Members, and Healthcare Workers, who care for the ill and the frail at home. Candidates receive theoretical as well as practical sessions during their training.
