Course Details

The Creating & Selling pathway give an overview of the role and tasks within a retail environment.

You’ll explore a range of retail outlets and activities to gain valuable insight into how to produce and promote products for sale. Each Release Your Potential pathway has 4 x 2 hour teaching sessions including:

  • Skills Builder – including Listening, Speaking, Problem Solving, Creativity, Staying Positive, Aim High, Leadership and Teamwork.

  • Introduction to Retail & Creative – covering various retail and creative skills including business, customer service, presentation and display.

  • Community Project – participating in a range of activities, events and opportunities which support local projects and organisations To help you to develop all the skills you’ll need for next steps, you will also have the option to enrol on digital skills for success. This Friday afternoon class is exclusive to Release Your Potential learners and will help you to use digital tools and apps to get the most from your time on the course. You will receive support through your course with 1:2:1 appointments with your progression mentor.

To enrol on Release Your Potential, you will be required to attend a 1:2:1 Advice and Guidance appointment which will include an initial assessment.

This assessment will review skills in speaking, listening, problem-solving and goal-setting to ensure the course is the right fit for you. Contact Curriculum Support to book your advice & guidance appointment.

Assessment

There is no formal qualification or exams, learners will work towards personal goals and targets agreed with their tutors. Progress will be tracked and assessed against the Skills Builder themes and monitored in tutorials with your progression mentor.

Release Your Potential learners may choose to move between pathways at the end of term to explore different opportunities or stick with one pathway for a whole academic year.
Your progression mentor will support you to explore and plan for your next steps ensuring that you can move into new opportunities which make the most of the skills which you have built.

For example, you may progress into local community activities, a job, volunteering or formal qualifications such as Level 1 Award in Retail Knowledge.
