The Ottawa Safety Council runs several road safety and school zone safety programs that bring the community together and makes sure that everyone gets to their destinations safely every day.
Not all heroes wear capes! Your local Adult Crossing Guards help protect children crossing Ottawa’s intersections every morning and every afternoon when the school bells ring. They are out there in 35-below temperatures, rain, snow, dust and heat. They ensure your child’s journey to school and back home is safe by maintaining visibility at over 200 busy intersections.
The Walking School Bus is an active form of transportation to school. Students are met at “bus stops” and chaperoned by a trained adult Leader and walk along a predesignated route to school!
The Ottawa Safety Council is a not-for-profit organization offering an array of programs and services to the residents of Ottawa. Our programs include Motorcycle Training and School Zone Safety (Crossing Guards, Pedestrian Safety, Walking School Bus, and Bicycle Safety).

EHS Zone provides a variety of Occupational Health and Safety courses for workers and supervisors. The training sessions are held at our location in Vaughan, ON and also in different training centers around the GTA. We also offer customized training sessions at customer sites.
The Traffic Safety Planner - Temporary Work Zones course is a one-day, instructor-led program that facilitates participants in how to create safe and effective plans, but also demonstrates how to implement, update, and oversee the use of traffic control and protection plans for temporary work zones...
This program meets the Transportation of Dangerous Goods requirements for those charged with its compliance. The course follows dangerous goods during their receiving, handling, and shipping stages, and thoroughly discusses what to do if something goes wrong. Certificate provided upon completion.
