Course Details

Scheduled waste refers to any type of waste material that poses a potential risk to human health or the environment due to its hazardous properties. The term “scheduled” indicates that these wastes are subject to specific regulations and guidelines for their handling, storage, transportation, and disposal.

The classification and management of scheduled waste may vary between different countries or regions, but the general concept remains the same.

Scheduled waste can encompass various types of materials, such as chemicals, pharmaceuticals, solvents, heavy metals, pesticides, medical waste, radioactive waste, and other substances that are toxic, flammable, corrosive, reactive, infectious, or pose a risk to the environment.

These wastes may originate from industrial processes, healthcare facilities, laboratories, construction sites, agricultural activities, or other sources.

Due to their potential harm, scheduled waste must be handled and managed in a controlled manner to minimize the risks to human health and the environment.

This includes proper containment, labeling, packaging, storage, and transportation using approved methods. Disposal of scheduled waste usually involves specialized treatment facilities, such as incinerators, landfills, or recycling centers, depending on the nature of the waste.
