One of the main segments of India's economy is the textile and apparel sector. Moreover, millions of people depend for their livelihoods in the textile and clothing industry.

It is also the manufacturing sector's biggest employer. But, there is a severe shortage of skilled labor, primarily due to differences in the availability of skilled and qualified people. Sewing Machine Operators are at the ecosystem's entry-level.

However, it is extremely fragmented. Many units of the apparel sector are family-run businesses that mostly function on contract with apparel wholesalers. They typically use old equipment and methods of production.

The need for an hour is to provide a professional workforce that increases efficiency, income, and ultimately leads to alleviating poverty.
