(Everything you need will be provideed, so no need to bring anything with you).
Sue Slattery opened Sewability Sewing School in December 1997. It was one of the first sewing schools in the country. Sue had been teaching City and Guilds Fashion and Design in East Birmingham and Solihull Colleges and realised that they were restricted to exam syllabuses.
Where her pupils really wanted to do their own choice. After working for Janome Sewing Machines she also realised that most people did not know how to get the best results from their sewing machines and overlockers. Sewability was just a dream then.
The 'Learn to Sew' Classes / Workshops are Fun and Informal and a great way to make new friends. They are designed to help you learn the basic techniques to get going on your sewing journey. I will guide you so that you actually understand the sewing machine and sew your own samples.
If you have never used a sewing machine before, or perhaps it was so long ago that you have forgotten what to do, this workshop starts at the beginning and will take the frustration out of setting up and using a sewing machine.
Sewing classes are offered by Imogen Fashion for all skill level. We run private weekend sewing classes for all of you who want to learn how to use sewing machine.
All our adult classes are mixed ability and mixed project. Every student has the opportunity to make what they want to make with expert guidance and support. This means we can have a wedding dress being made along side piped cushions! The classes are small between 3-5 participants.
This Dressmaking course will provide you with the skills and knowledge to start making your own garments. Whilst this course does not have a formal qualification at the end, it is a fantastic way to widen your sewing skills with hands-on learning material among a group of likeminded enthusiasts.
