Hi, my name is Kerrie Redgrave and I established the Sewing and Design Studio in 2009. I have always loved sewing and it has occupied a large part of my life. After teaching ‘learn to sew’ classes at community college, I also developed a love of teaching sewing and I have a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
This is the perfect workshop for quilters and textiles teachers, dressmakers and home decorators to design large pieces of fabric for all sewing projects and upcycle a garment or two as well.
This course caters for students with a range of sewing abilities who wish to learn more about sewing and garment making. A practical course which includes basic, as well as more advanced sewing techniques and allows students to choose their own project.
Over 2Â classes you will make yourself a simple skirt. You will cover how to read dress patterns, do basic pattern alterations to fit your measurements, cut and prepare fabric for sewing, then sew a skirt with waistband or facing with a zipper to fit you!
These classes, instructed by Helena Kinnunen, are an introduction to upholstery sewing during which time students will make or recover their own cushions. It is suitable for beginner to intermediate skill level.
