Course Details

This training covers the concepts allowing you to increase your efficiency with solidworks software through knowledge of specialized functions and workshops. The course also highlights the possibilities for interactivity between the tools in order to use their potential and allow, for example, the creation of personalized tools. 

Presentation of the training

Some of the training offered by the Cégep de Saint-Laurent is funded by Services Québec as part of the “Level Up” program and is offered at only $5/hour. They are intended primarily for workers on the Island of Montreal.

Skills:

  • Know how to use advanced functions: Sweeping, smoothing, configurations, families of parts and equations,
  • Know how to use specialized modules: sheet metal, welded constructions, surfaces, etc.
  • Create library functions
  • Advanced concepts of assemblies and advanced concepts of drawing
  • Photorealistic images with PhotoWorks
  • Animation of mechanisms with SolidWorks Motion

Know how to use advanced functions

  • Scanning, options and bulk material removal;
  • Smoothing, options;
  • Curve tools.

Know how to use specialized modules

  • Sheet metal work;
  • Welded constructions;
  • Surfaces;
  • Routing;
  • Molding tools.

Configurations and families of parts

  • Creation of family of parts;
  • Configurations in assemblies.

Library functions

  • Use and create cutting functions;
  • Use and create stamping features.

Use and create custom functions

The families of parts and the equations in these functions.

Prerequisites

  • SolidWorks, level 1 

Eligible candidates:

  • Employed people registering for training related to their job or their field of study.
  • Self-employed workers
  • Unemployed people provided that the course is related to their studies or professional experience and that they reside on the island of Montreal

Priority order:

  • Employed people residing OR working on the island of Montreal
  • Unemployed people residing on the island of Montreal
  • Employed people from the census metropolitan region of Montreal outside the island of Montreal (Laval, Laurentides, Lanaudière and Montérégie) who do not reside AND do not work on the island of Montreal.

Ineligible candidates

  • People in career change or interested in a course for personal use
  • Self-employed workers participating in the Young Volunteers program
  • CNESST or SAAQ service providers
  • Students, even if they work part-time
  • Municipal employees

Employees of the public and parapublic sectors, as well as state-owned enterprises, for example:

  • Rehabilitation centers
  • Accommodation and long-term care centers (CHSLD)

Other criteria

  • Employed workers are prioritized
  • Maximum of three workers per company for all of its branches
  • Participants cannot register for more than two courses offered simultaneously.
  • To be eligible for funding, a participant must have attended at least one session during the training (attendance register required)
