The Spanish curriculum intends to deepen a curiosity and love of languages and other cultures, as well as develop an advanced understanding of how languages work. Through a focus on both culture and communication, we aim to foster a passion for exploring a foreign language and comparing it to our own.
Language learning provides an insight into others’ countries and cultures and thus widens our intellectual horizons and promotes social mobility. We aim to broaden students’ knowledge and skills beyond the subject specification, exposing them to as much authentic material as possible.
We aim to challenge our students to achieve a high level of communicative competence in the four equally important attainment targets of listening, speaking, reading and writing, thus not only developing literacy skills but also strengthening students’ resilience and problem-solving skills.
Through studying Spanish, students will see the benefits of travelling the world and will be offered the opportunity to visit and have first-hand experience of family life in Spain, therefore ensuring they have the skills to communicate and have meaningful and life-changing experience.
What will I study
Students will study topics from a range of political, social and cultural themes all in relation to the Spanish-speaking world following the AQA A-Level course:
Our vision can only be achieved through collaboration. Our shared belief is that raising outcomes, narrowing gaps and improving social mobility will be accomplished through proactive collaboration across all teams in the Trust, and between the Trust and its key stakeholders.
This approach has already helped us establish a track-record of outstanding results and it underpins our Trust’s culture and ethos.
Spanish is the 2nd most widely spoken language in the world. At la Academia in South Manchester, we have teachers from South America and Spain enabling us to explain the nuances in cultures as well as the variations in the Spanish language.
All our language classes are centered around our students and have been designed to develop practical language skills. Each course will run from September to May. Each week you will attend a two-hour class to help progress and consolidate your learning around the four core skills of listening.
Our dedicated Spanish tutor can help you to master a new language, whatever your starting level. Whether you want to take an test, prepare for life abroad or simply find your way around on holiday we can tailor our courses to help you achieve your aims.
We offer one to one and small group Spanish classes so that our students can learn as quickly as possible. All of our Spanish students start with some one to one classes with your teacher so that you can work on some key areas and so that the teacher can really observe your learning style and speed
We offer a wide range of different language courses, allowing our learners to communicate confidently in the language of their choice and to become independent language learners.
