At Sea, we often operate in a multi-language, multi-cultural environment where barriers exist when communicating with different ships from various nations.
At Sea, we often operate in a multi-language, multi-cultural environment where barriers exist when communicating with different ships from various nations.
We teach learners how to communicate correctly with these ships, and to make use of the International Code of Signals to overcome any problems.
Maritime Communications include Morse code, Flag Signals and the Standard Marine Navigational Vocabulary. This also ensures that the learner becomes proficient in the English Language.
This course is also suitable for any crew members experiencing difficulty with English. Learners can attend the ‘Maritime Communications Course’ before enrolling in any of the other courses.
Learning Objectives:
SSTG was founded in 2013 by Leon Mouton with the intention to service the training needs of the wider Maritime communities. Subsequently the group grew to a multi-center institution with the focus on enhancing accessibility and effectively reducing training costs to break down barriers to entry in the maritime industry.
Our focus is on life-long-learning promoting the use of technologies. For this reason we were the first institution in South Africa to offer online STCW courses. Our accreditations are in line with STCW and STCW-F requirements through SAMSA.
SSTG is committed to preserve life by focusing on excellent maritime safety training. No student will be left behind, and we will not be satisfied with sub-standard achievements.
With this mindset, we address maritime safety training with a passion to make a difference in the lives of our local maritime community, and that of our international clientele as we expand globally.
We believe that maritime training should be as realistic as possible, and we do so by recreating real-world circumstances in a safe and professionally supervised environment.
