STCW stands for Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW)and was introduces as Governments around the world formally agreed to standardise training around the world.
The STCW was introduced in 1978, amended in 1995 (which is why sometimes you see old documents referring to STCW’95) and again in 2010.
The STCW Basic Training Course runs every week and the minimum legal requirement for all crew working commercially at sea. Our courses are accredited by SAMSA (South African Maritime Safety Authority) and recognised by the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) and are valid for a period of 5 years.

The STCW Basic Training Course is internationally recognized and meets all international standards prescribed by the International Maritime Organisation (IMO).
Personal Survival Techniques (STCW) training is offered by SAMTRA (South African Maritime Training Academy). A sound working knowledge of survival at sea, types of emergencies, types and use of equipment available to deal with emergencies.
STCW training is offered by SA Maritime School & Transport College. Our courses equip learners for all aspects of the maritime, shipping, and transport industries.
STCW Basic Safety Training course is the legal minimum requirement for anyone looking for commercial work aboard vessels, including working on Superyachts and working on Cruise ships.
