Course Aims

This course provides adult learners an opportunity to enter, volunteer or secure sustained employment in the Education Sector. It also provides adults who are employed in a level 2 Teaching Assistant role to gain an occupationally relevant qualification.

What will I study?

Over the duration of this course you will develop the knowledge and skills needed when supporting teaching and learning in the school environment.
You will be supported to develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours required for the industry; learning about the role and responsibilities of the teaching assistant in terms of health and safety, safeguarding, keeping children safe in education,  equality diversity and inclusion and how to care for, plan and support activities for learning development and how to improve practice in schools.

How will I be assessed?

This course will be assessed through a range of methods such as assignments, observation and professional discussion.  It is internally assessed and external quality assured.

Entry requirements

There are no specific entry requirements but you must be employed for 12-16 hours per week in a teaching assistant role or have an employer willing to support a placement for 12-16 hours per week for the duration of the course.
