As Tap students at Allegro progress, they will have the option of taking ISTD exams; exams are offered approximately every two years. ISTD is an internationally recognized Dance examining organization that gives students the opportunity to progress through a Tap syllabus starting at a young age all the way to a professional teaching qualification!
Ballet and Jazz are recommended for Tap as they benefit tap dancers by strengthening their posture and musicality.
Established in 2001, Allegro Performing Arts Centre has developed one of the finest and most diverse dance programs offered in Victoria, BC. Our experienced and qualified faculty offers dance training for children and adults of all ages and abilities, beginners to pre-professionals. Little or no experience in tap? Enter the universe of a tap dance course, learn familiar words and familiarize yourself with basic movements.
Tap dance classes are offered by Dance Adventure. We offer a variety of dance styles to all ages and abilities in a safe, positive and encouraging environment.
The tap syllabus is based on the Al Gilbert graded system. This system begins with pre-tap and proceeds through an additional 10 grades.Â
Tap (Ages 10+) dance classes are offered by Dance Plus EP. At Dance Plus we strive to keep a fun and encouraging atmosphere where students can become the best dancers they can be.
Tap/Jazz Combo classes are for students in kindergarten, and grades 1 and 2 at school. Each Combo class consists of half an hour Jazz and half an hour Tap.
