The Landing Dance Centre is a place to grow!
We are about supporting dancers and recognizing their potential both as artists and as people.
Training the whole person starts with acknowledging where each individual is at, and unlocking a training path to grow their full potential.
With a focus on Contemporary and Modern techniques, and an intention to instill a love of learning, dancers are taught how to build on their foundational training and are challenged to leave their comfort zone through class exploration and performance opportunities.
Cognitive abilities are also enhanced through this dance style, as tap dancers must develop both mental and muscle memory to become proficient at tapping out rhythms in correct timing.
Geared specifically to dancers 5 years to adult. The dance style where rhythmic patterns are sounded by the toes, heels and balls of the feet. Progressive rhythmic skills and syncopation styles are taught in a fun and energetic manner.Â
We follow the ADAPT (Foley) Syllabus in our Tap program. The emphasis in Tap is on creating rhythms using our feet and body as our instrument.
Classes are focused on introducing dancers to different disciplines: Tap, Jazz, Ballet, and Baton. An Acro – Mini class can be added to compliment the dancer’s training. Students are grouped according to age, ability, and previous training.
Tap dance has roots in dancing such as the Juba Dance, Clogging & Irish Step. By the mid 1900’s, Irish and British clogging steps were combined to create “buck and wing”, which became Modern Tap.
