Classes are focused on introducing dancers to different disciplines: Tap, Jazz, Ballet, and Baton. An Acro – Mini class can be added to compliment the dancer’s training. Students are grouped according to age, ability, and previous training.
This class is a high energy class in which feet become musical instruments. Tapping rhythms are set to all different eras of music from the classic to the trendy drum beats of today’s tap style.
Tap dance is a form of dance characterized by using the sound of one's tap shoes hitting the floor as a percussive instrument. As such, it is also commonly considered to be a form of music. Two major variations on tap dance exist: rhythm (Jazz) tap and Broadway tap.
As we work through the Imperial Tap dance syllabus (ISTD), students will progress through the grades building a secure tap technique, developing an awareness of tone, understand rhythm, and its development while gaining a sense of performance.
