Course Overview
The HCID train the trainer course will equip learners with the knowledge and skills to provide educationally effective training on the recognition, risk assessment and provision of care events for patients suspected of infection with a high-consequence infectious disease.
The course is suitable for educators and senior healthcare workers who are responsible for setting up a HCID training program in a local setting.
Day 1: HCID Assessment PPE Course –
On day 1 we will run a series of high-fidelity, multi-professional simulation exercises using the ultraviolet contamination model which mimics contact, fomite and airborne transmission routes. The day provides opportunity to develop and refine skills in a team-based environment, as wells discuss application to a local setting. The day culminates in summative assessment of practical and knowledge-based domains.
Day 2: HCID Train the Trainer Course -
This day builds on the skills acquired from the assessment PPE course and focuses on refining skills required to develop and operationalise an evidence based HCID training program in a local setting. It includes sessions on the evidence base informing HCID training, structured debrief, course delivery and discussions operationalisation.
There will also be opportunity to practice delivery to a group of simulated learners. We will provide a package of resources which can be implemented locally including online learning, handbooks, and posters.

To equip delegates with the knowledge and skills to deliver structured training in the work place. Enable the delegates to understand the role of the trainer.
We will be refreshing some of the core theories and methods underpinning adult professional learning and thinking about the elements of course design and delivery that make sure the learning is relevant, engaging, and most importantly transferable back to practice.
There are some situations where training needs to be conducted by individuals who are in-house, but training may not be their primary job function. In these cases, we can offer a ‘train the trainer’ course, to give staff the necessary skills to deliver the training with credibility.
Leading training for both staff and volunteers is quite often part of many roles in voluntary organisations. This two day course enables you to learn the essential practice for turning what otherwise might have been a ’briefing session’ into a training course that facilitates learning.
Our Train the Trainer course is ideal for anyone new to the training environment, or for those whose role requires them to conduct occasional training of staff.
