This course will give the student the knowledge and understanding of the OSHA regulations regarding trench excavations, specifically OSHA 1926 Subpart P.
After completion of this course the student will have an understanding of trench safety and will trained to the qualifications of a "Competent Person".
Students will be shown signs and causes of trench collapse, learn about different soil types and the effects of water on a trench and how to perform the required daily inspections of the trench.
Students will also learn what types of equipment are available to make a trench safe and learn the importance of inspecting the trench prior to entry.

This training explains the hazards of a wide range of situations surrounding excavation and trenching, including unstable excavations and trenching, potential movement of soil, etc. Students are taught proper digging techniques, safety precautions, access, and egress, excavated materials.
In the 1-Hour Excavations training course, students will learn these terms as well as learning to recognize and prevent safety issues associated with soil failure, undermining, and structural collapse.
This training provides a classroom presentation, written test, hands-on practice and skills testing session. The classroom portion focuses on key information needed for safe operation of an excavator.
