This course covers all you need to know on how to be asbestos aware, including the history, properties and uses of asbestos along with the health effects from exposure and more importantly the knowledge of how to avoid the risks as per the Category A Asbestos Awareness Training Guidelines in Regulation 10 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 (CAR 2012)
It also provides an overview of the current requirements of the Control of Asbestos Regulations and how to comply. This course is for all workforces who wish to work on the fabric of any premises built before the year 2000, persons such as managers, supervisors, tradesmen and maintenance workers. All courses are either UKATA (UK Asbestos Training Association) or IATP (Independent Asbestos Training Provider) approved.
Course Syllabus
Increased awareness of the nature and properties of asbestos and its effects on health
Types, uses and likely occurrences of asbestos in buildings, plant and asbestos containing materials
Avoiding the risks of asbestos exposure
Information on asbestos in premises prior to commencing work and where to obtain the information
What to do if suspicious materials are found
Use of appropriate workplace precautions or seeking advice on the workplace precautions, in respect of the risks of asbestos including the risk assessment process
Undertake work activities in a safe manner and without risk to selves or others
Awareness of the key aspects of the asbestos regulations and how they fit into the broader context ofhealth and safety legislation
Procedures to follow when coming into unintentional contact with asbestos containing materials and an understanding of the appropriate emergency arrangements
