Dealing with loss by unforeseen or foreseen circumstances can be both an emotional and physical ordeal to an individual and their families. Social service practitioners will learn how to better relate to their clients’ states of mind and needs, while working with those who are in situations involving loss.
The course also touches on the psychological and physiological link in the stages of dealing with loss. With the heightened awareness, practitioners will learn how to guide their clients who have experienced loss and grief, to develop essential self-care.
Learning Outcome:
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
Illustrate how death of a loved one affects an individual and the range of loss and grief experienced
Apply methods of coping and managing loss and feelings to clients
Assess needs of clients relating to the impact of death based on the stages of grief
Determine the warning signs of depression and suicide from loss
