To best prepare you for a career in the fire service, the academy has an extensive curriculum that includes:
A rigorous physical fitness program.
Extensive education.
Broad-based hands-on experience and drilling.
Reality-based firefighting, rescue, and emergency medical scenarios.
The expectation of the West Metro Fire Protection District is that you master all aspects of the curriculum prior to your completion of the academy. You will be asked to perform skills competently, confidently, and consistently throughout the academy.

West Metro Fire Rescue is a full service, all hazard fire and rescue agency, headquartered in Lakewood, Colorado. We cover more than 108 square miles in two Colorado counties and serve nearly 300,000 residents, with crews at 17 fire stations.
This means that whenever you are working with welding equipment within a confined space or in any area where there is potential for fire hazard, you are being spotted and have someone there for an emergency.

Fire Safety training is required for all caregiver professionals in Georgia. Training consists of a 3-hour initial course and a 2-hour refresher course. The Commissioner's office has certified over 500 instructors to provide this training.
