Upon successful completion of this course, participants will receive a 3-year certification in Workplace Safety Inspection.
Course Description
Workplace inspections help prevent injuries and illnesses. Through critical examination of the workplace, inspections identify and record hazards for corrective action.
Joint occupational health and safety committees can help plan, conduct, report and monitor inspections. Regular workplace inspections are an important part of the overall occupational health and safety program.
As an essential part of a health and safety program, workplaces should be inspected. Inspections are important as they allow you to listen to the concerns of workers and supervisors, this two-way communication approach will ensure that both management and worker concerns are identified and understood.
Many workplaces employ people with specific skills and responsibilities, inspections can bridge the gap between workers who may not be familiar with other jobs and their associated hazards.
In addition, proper inspections can identify existing and potential hazards, determine underlying causes of hazards, monitor hazard controls and recommend corrective action.
This course will teach students the basics of a worksite inspection. Inspections are designed to help the workplace meet compliance with the law; and more importantly allow for the identification and control of any factors that can cause injury or illness.
