The Hamilton Film Festival began in 2004, at the Staircase Theatre, dedicated to screening locally-made movies. It has since grown into a multi-venue celebration of independent film, and has presented works from over 50 countries.

The festival has been recognized as a catalyst of the area’s growing film scene, and continues to contribute through education, production, and presentation.

The festival’s director, and local filmmaker, Nathan Fleet, has been there from the start and is very active in the arts community, connecting people and organizations, to opportunities and initiatives.

With a focus on the future of media-arts, HFF offers training for people of all ages, starting with the Kids Can Film moviemaking camps, right through to industry development programs for people entering the film and new-media scene.

The new learning space in the Ancaster Memorial Arts Centre gives the community even greater access, year-round.

The Hamilton Film Festival is Hamilton's largest and longest running film festivals with roots that go back 20 years! HFF is a Top 100 reviewed festival, out of 10,000 worldwide film festivals!
