Hijama Cupping Therapy was established over 1400 years ago, during the advent of Islam in Arabia. The practice of "Hijama" was introduced and became an extension of general Chinese cupping.
It is a completely separate therapy from regular cupping and is a whole treatment in its own right as it is based on religion and faith. Muslims practice Hijama, based on what was ordained by Allah (The Exalted) and practiced by Muhammad (PBUH).
“Al-Hijama” comes from “Al Hajm”, which means to “restore to the original size” or to “diminish volume” and “to Suck”. Small, superficial cuts are made on the skin that is being cupped.
The suction pressure under the cup would then stimulate the toxic or unhealthy blood to trickle out and cleanse the diseased or inflamed area of pain on the body. This diminishes the volumes of excess toxic fluids and humors in the body.
It serves to cleanse, normalize, alkalize, and create “Homeostasis” (Balance) within the body.
The practice of "Hijama" was introduced and became an extension of general Chinese cupping.
