Surprisingly, a new study by Edubirdie (a professional essay writing service) has revealed that some of the common words students misspelled after reviewing the essays submitted by students in the United States, Britain, Canada and Australia - for editing between 2019 and 2020 are ‘receive’ and ‘successful’ among many other repeating words.
If you find yourself struggling with these words, just remember that there are others like you around the world facing a similar challenge. Interestingly, it is more common than observed during writing.
The study was conducted after analysing nearly 500,000 words submitted to this portal from countries with a higher literacy rate and standard of education.
It found that,
"spelling mistakes ranked highest among the types of language errors, which include misplaced modifiers and lack of subject-verb agreement".
One more person adamant about this fact was Mr Benjamin Wong, a secondary school teacher, who noticed that it is very common that the word ‘receive’ puts students in a position during speed writing where the positions of the letters i and e are mostly switched.
