Course Details

Dsw Trainings 360 excavator training course is for operators who require excavator training or a 360 test for excavators above and below ten tonnes.  We offer both wheeled excavator training courses and tracked excavator courses.

Who should attend

Both new and existing 360 plant operators who have received little or no formal instruction on excavators, but wish to achieve an accredited Brittop Excavator Skilled operators card.

 

Choosing the right course

Dsw Training offers the following excavator courses:

  • Mini Digger training (tracked) below 10 tonnes

  • Excavator 360° training (tracked) above 10 tonnes

  • Mini Digger training (wheeled) below 10 tonnes

  • Excavator 360° training (wheeled) above 10 tonnes (this excavator is commonly known as a ‘Rubber Duck’ 

If you are looking to operate both Mini Diggers and or Excavators above 10 tonnes, it is best to choose the above 10 tonne excavator course, this qualifies individuals to operate both sizes of 360 excavator on completion.

Course duration

Dsw trainings  Novice courses can take between 5 and 10 days depending on the ratio of trainees on the course. 

Experienced excavator operators with no formal training or for those just simply wishing to refresh their skills, we offer a short duration excavator course, this can take between 1 and 4 days depending on the operators ability and experience

Course Content

       Familiarity with the equipment and use of Operator's manual

  • Be aware of the necessary routine adjustments and service procedures

  • Health and safety legislation as it applies to Plant operators

  • Operator's responsibilities with regards to daily/weekly checks of machine

  • Role and responsibility as a plant operator

  • Principle components, basic construction, controls & terminology

  • Operate the excavator 360° tracked safely and productively

  • Fit and operate ancillary equipment

  • Site the machine safely and efficiently

  • Understand the capabilities, purposes and limitations of the machine

  • Follow all necessary safety precautions

  • Work to levels with the aid of laser equipment

  • Hazards including underground and overhead services

  • Practical operation, including:
       - Excavation of material
        - Loading vehicles
        - Operating on rough ground and inclines
        - Safe use of the quick hitch
        - Using the excavator for lifting operations
        - Shutdown and securing procedures

  •  Theoretical knowledge of plant operations
