This 1 hour induction uses a combination of taught demonstration and hands on practice to allow you to gain an understanding of 3D printing.
3D printing is currently at the forefront of advanced prototyping and model making. It allows the user to print parts, models and figures with relative ease, reducing costs and making time.
During this short training course, you will learn the basics, starting with choosing a 3D model from our pre-approved library. You will then be guided through the 3D print process; using the software, loading the printer with material and finally printing a model. Once inducted, you to come and use the 3D printers in the FabLab whenever you need.
FabLab Cardiff is located in Cardiff Metropolitan University's School of Art and Design. It is an open access digital workshop where you can use a range of fabrication technologies to turn your ideas into reality.

FabLab Cardiff is an open access workshop. That’s right. Open access. All you have to do is attend inductions for the machines you intend to use to make sure that you know what you’re doing, and then you’re free to come in during our opening times and use the machines at your leisure.

Thanks to our capable staff, we’re able to offer a range of professional services, from CAD work to prototype manufacture. We’ve created shop fit-outs, kitchens, staircases, moulds, sensors, trophies, and a lot more.
3D Printing course training is offered by London Fields Design School for all skill level. Our training will give you the essential software skills to make new ideas into reality. Then work your way up on the job.
This course will introduce you to the creative method of 3D Printing and its impact on the 21st Century. Being supported by a 3D specialist, you will learn the practical skills starting with basic digital modelling techniques to setting a print and apply this to a practical activity.
