Course Details

The AWCC Operate vehicles in the field program is run weekly from our Brisbane and Toowoomba training facilities. The course is aimed at supporting a variety of industries and is flexible enough to support those recreational drivers who are seeking to learn more about driving techniques, vehicle maintenance and remote driver planning.

This course is suitable for any person that requires or is looking to obtain advanced knowledge of 4WD vehicles for work or recreational purposes.

In order to generate greater value for our clients we have clustered several additional useful driving units of competency into our program. The successful participants of our Operate Vehicles in the Field course PMASUP236 will also receive the following bonus certificates at no additional cost.

  • RIIVEH201 Operate Light Vehicle
  • RIIVEH305 Operate and Maintain a 4WD Vehicle
  • TLIC2025 Operate 4WD Vehicle

Learning Outcomes:

  • Identify 4WD drive specific terms, terminology & techniques
  •  Plan for minimal environmental impact
  •  Perform pre and post departure checks
  •  Journey Management
  • Convoy and Radio Communications
  • Use of four wheel drive technology covering the various modes
  •  Use a tow strap to recover a vehicle
  •  Perform maintenance and minor repairs on four wheel drive vehicle
  •  Basic Towing information
  •  Basic Survival techniques in remote areas and more…

 

Learning Methods:

The modes of delivery for this program will be Face to Face, classroom based supported by a number of practical activities aimed at operating a 4WD vehicle on various terrain and road types, these activities are designed to satisfy the Practical Element and Assessment of the program.

Student who wish to learn more about their own vehicle are welcome to bring their own 4WD and perform the practical activities. These vehicles will need to be fully road worthy with current registration. Conditions apply.
