ABCS Fire Watch is a course and is based off of Alberta OH&S legislation. In this course we will teach the basics of looking out for flammable hazards during hot work and how to operate and use basic equipment such as a fire extinguisher among other tools.
ABCS Fire Watch is a course and is based off of Alberta OH&S legislation. In this course we will teach the basics of looking out for flammable hazards during hot work and how to operate and use basic equipment such as a fire extinguisher among other tools.
Students will learn when to sound the alarm and act responsibly in order prevent injury to other workers and damage to company property. This course replaces our former OSSA Fire Watch training program. OSSA no longer accredits fire watch training.
ABCS Fire Watch is approximately four hours in duration and includes an instructor led presentation, review exercises, class discussion, written knowledge test and practical exam.

This course will equip the participant with the tools necessary to teach the basic theory of fire extinguishers. Each participant will get hands-on practical experience with the four basic types of class B fires.

Fires start small and may be extinguished by well-trained, knowledgeable employees using the proper equipment. Without training, there is a much greater risk of the fire spreading and/or employees being injured by improper utilization of the extinguisher.
This basic level course is designed to provide the firefighter with the practical knowledge to function in a fire service as an integral member of a firefighting team while under close supervision.
