It is envisaged that by the end of this course of training the learner will be able to answer questions on and perform the following:
Have a basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and their responsibilities as an operator
Have a working knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook and be familiar with other sources of information available including relevant legislation
Be able to locate and identify the major components of the machine and explain their functions
Be able to locate and identify key controls and explain their functions
Conduct all pre-operational checks in accordance with manufacturers and legislative requirements
Identify and maintain PPE appropriate for cutting or grinding machine
Select suitable type of abrasive wheel and machine relative to the work being undertaken
Prepare the machine for use and operate machinery safely and efficiently
Conduct all necessary safety checks at the work area and set up safety zone

Who Should Attend
Those who are required to use abrasive wheels as part of their working duties.
Delegate Requirements – Delegates should be physically fit, in good health and should, generally, not have problems with eyesight or hearing, heart disease, high blood pressure, epilepsy, impaired limb function, alcohol or drug dependence or psychiatric illness.
Novice – This course is designed for the complete Novice delegate.
Experienced – Delegates must have used the equipment in a range of operations for a minimum of 3 months.
Refresher – Delegates must have already attended a course and have valid proof in the form of certification.
Experienced Worker Test (EWA) – Delegates must have used the equipment in a range of operations for a minimum of 2 years.
