To provide individuals with the knowledge and understanding needed to use abrasive wheels safely and to comply with current regulations.
Course content:
Hazards arising from use and precautions.
The requirements of the regulations
Methods of marking as to type and speed
Methods of storage, handling and transporting wheels
Methods of testing and inspection for damage
Function of all components and the correct method of mounting and balancing
Methods of dressing and adjustment of an abrasive wheel
Type 1 – Straight sided vitrified wheels not exceeding 250mm
Type 27 – Depressed centre reinforced resinoid grinding wheels
Type 41 – Straight sided reinforced resinoid cut-off wheels
Type 42 – Depressed centre reinforced resinoid cut-off wheels.
Assessment is made by two methods: Operators are required to complete and pass a multi choice theory test, and; Operators are required to perform a practical demonstration complemented by trainer appraisal.
Duration: 3.5 hours
