Course Details

Course content:

  • Hazards arising from use and precautions.

  • The requirements of the regulations

  • Methods of marking as to type and speed

  • Methods of storage, handling and transporting wheels

  • Methods of testing and inspection for damage

  • Function of all components and the correct method of mounting and balancing

  • Methods of dressing and adjustment of an abrasive wheel

  • Type 1 – Straight sided vitrified wheels not exceeding 250mm

  • Type 27 – Depressed centre reinforced resinoid grinding wheels

  • Type 41 – Straight sided reinforced resinoid cut-off wheels

  • Type 42 – Depressed centre reinforced resinoid cut-off wheels.

Assessment is made by two methods: Operators are required to complete and pass a multi choice theory test, and; Operators are required to perform a practical demonstration complemented by trainer appraisal.

Duration: 3.5 hours
