Scaffold use has been identified as an important tool to be used on the worksite but may have serious risks if not erected and inspected properly.

This course will lead the student in proper procedures for building mobile and stationary scaffolding. This program will also give the participant a solid working knowledge of inspecting scaffolds according to current OH&S and CSA standards.

There will be both theory and practical components covered in this course.

  •  Standards and regulations
  •  Anatomy (parts of various scaffolds)
  •  Working at Heights requirements
  •  Stability and construction (mobile and stationary)
  •  Calculating deflection
  •  Calculating height vs length
  •  Proper inspection and tagging of various scaffolding.

 

Practical Training

Students will construct both mobile and stationary scaffolds and calculate their deflection and be shown how to ensure it is both safe and legal.
