This Access to Primary Education and Humanities course will introduce you to a range of social science subjects and is designed for adults returning to study after at least five years out of full-time education who wish to progress to university-level study.
A range of topics will be covered, including approaches and methods in psychology, gender, class and ethnic inequalities in education and crime. Historical immigration and emigration will also be introduced. You will also be introduced to crime statistics in your local area as well as the different sanctions that can be imposed on those who engage in criminal behaviour.
What will I learn?
Students wishing to go on to primary teaching will require to study and successfully complete a mathematics examination at SCQF level 5 and secure and complete a placement in a primary school.

National 5 Application of Maths (only for those intending to apply for Primary Education or Social Work)
The course also includes a class in 'Preparation for Higher Education' which, combined with guidance, aims to help you reach your full potential. The classes on offer are assessed by continuous assessment throughout the year.
