Recent statistics show that the average cost of an accident with respect to sick benefits and compensation amounts to approximately $78,000 per person, per accident.

This alarming figure covers accidents that stem from all reported injuries: from paper cuts, right through to major injuries and deaths. Given that over 90% of all accidents could have been avoided if proper procedures had been followed and/or appropriate preventative measures taken, the need for a clear and concise training program is evident.

Participants must complete and pass this course to receive their record of training (ROT).

 

Who Should Attend:

This program has been designed to familiarize participants (supervisors, Joint Health and Safety Committee members, and selected workers) with the proper procedures for thoroughly investigating accidents or incidents.

 

What You Will Learn:

Upon the successful completion of this safety training program, participants will understand:

  • The legislative requirements (Government Regulations, CSA Standards and Manufacturers’ Guidelines and Principles);

  • The duties and responsibilities of workplace stakeholders;

  • Basic investigation procedures;

  • The consequences of an accident.

 

After This Workshop You Will be Able To:

To successfully pass this course, participants must demonstrate the following:

  • Determine the causes of accidents/incidents and implement an action plan to avoid similar events from occurring;

  • Recognize any existing areas of hazard(s) in the workplace;

  • Know how to approach, cordon off and preserve the scene of an accident/incident.
