Accountants prepare and interpret financial data that business owners use to make important decisions. Every business owner needs a business consultant. Accountants provide services including: consulting, information technology, forensic accounting, environmental accounting, international accounting, and tax and financial planning.

As an accounting major at Indiana State University, you will gain valuable skills in courses that prepare you to become a certified public accountant (CPA), certified management accountant (CMA), chartered global management accountant (CGMA), certified fraud examiner (CFE), or a certified financial planner (CFP). You will develop an understanding of accounting principles and accounting theory required for entry into these beneficial accounting professions.

The accounting bachelor’s degree offers the opportunity to study accounting information systems, auditing, data analytics in accounting, financial and management accounting, nonprofit accounting, fraud examination, and taxation.

The accounting program concludes with a senior business experience – a capstone course in the Scott College of Business and an upper-division elective foundational course. Focusing on the theory and practice of strategic management, project completion demonstrates skills in the functional areas of business.
