Course Details

This training course is  8 hrs long. The purpose of this training session is to present industry training requirements to ensure correct utilization, safe and efficient operation of Rigging in order to reduce incidents in the field.

After successful completion of this training course the participant will have sufficient knowledge to safely use/operate rigging and meet Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) requirements and CSA standards regarding rigging operations. This training will be broken up into the following learning objectives:

  • Introduction to OH&S Legislation and CSA Standards, Why the need for training, Employer Responsibilities, Operator or Worker Responsibilities.

  • Introduction to Rigging, Requirements, Regulations, Rigger Qualifications, Calculating Weights

  • Determining the Weight of the Load

  • Sling Angles and Stresses

  • Center of Gravity

  • Basic Hitches

  • Types of Slings

  • Lifting Hardware

  • Below-the-Hook Lifting Devices

  • Communication

  • Crane Dynamics
