This Acute Wound Assessment & Management course is ideal for healthcare professionals working in emergency departments, urgent care, sport or remote and offshore locations.
This will give you the initial skills and knowledge to clinically assess, treat, understand the patients that require further referral and management, and the rationale behind the referral.
This course also provides healthcare professionals with the basic wound closure skills, and also gives basic understanding of suturing and skin staple closures.
Course overview
The Acute Wound Assessment and Management course has been created to meet the needs of those aiming to gain the skills and knowledge to clinically assess, treat, refer and manage the ongoing care of acute wounds.
This course has been specifically designed by a team of faculty members in urgent and emergency care to ensure candidates are trained to assess, treat and review wounds of all types and take the appropriate course of action and treatment.
This course is ideal for those health care professionals wishing to develop clinical practice in wound care including Nurses, Paramedics, Emergency Care Practitioners, Advanced Practitioners and others working in urgent and emergency care.
Option 1: A one-day attended course to introduce the fundamental knowledge and skills required.
Option 2: A one-day attended course to introduce the fundamental knowledge and skills required followed by completion of a portfolio of competence within 12 months of attendance.
Entry Requirements
Option 1: Healthcare practitioner with responsibility for dealing with acute wounds, e.g. HCA, ECA, Ambulance Technician, Nurse, Paramedic, Urgent Care Practitioner, ECP.
Option 2: To apply for the Portfolio of Competence delegates must be Registered Health Professionals, e.g. NMC or HCPC and working in an environment with exposure to acute wounds and availability of a suitable mentor or practice supervisor.
Certification
Option 1: A certificate of attendance will be issued.
Option 2: A certificate of attendance will be issued. Following successful completion of the portfolio of attendance, a certificate of competence will be issued.
